On Sunday morning, October 12, 2025, two press releases were released regarding the arrest of a minor who attends Tecumseh High School.

According to the release from the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office, it was contacted by the FBI about a “credible threat made toward an unknown school within Pottawatomie County.”

The release says, “After reviewing details provided, investigators determined the threat to be credible…a juvenile male, currently a student at Tecumseh Public Schools, was identified as the suspect. Investigators obtained and executed a search warrant at the juveniles resident. During the search, evidence supporting the reported threat was located.”

A public statement from Tecumseh Public Schools said TPS was notified about a threatening post made by a high school student.

According to the statement, the month-old post “included threatening language and images involving weapons which were taken inside a Tecumseh High School restroom.”

“School administrators worked closely with the Pott. County Sheriff’s Office and Tecumseh Police Department to ensure the student no longer poses a threat.”

The release from the Pott. County Sheriff’s Office said, “During the interview, the juvenile admitted to planning to ‘shoot up’ his school and cause harm to others.”

The juvenile is in custody, and the release states he has been charged with: Terroristic threats, threatening acts of violence, violation of the Computer Crimes Act, and obscene materials.

The TPS statement said, “School administrators worked closely with the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office and the Tecumseh Police Department to ensure the student no longer poses a threat. Out of an abundance of caution, there will be an increased police presence at THS beginning Monday.

“We take all threats to student and staff safety seriously and appreciate the quick action and partnership of both the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office and the Tecumseh Police Department.”
