Fred “Jim “ Lynn, Jr., 89, passed away Feb. 11, 2024.
Jim was born Jan. 31, 1935, in Tecumseh, OK to Fred James Lynn, Sr. and Dorothy (Newell) Lynn. Shortly after his birth his mother died and he was raised by his maternal grandparents, Ebbin and Mary Jane (Henderson) Lynn and his aunt Emily “Margaret” Newell. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1953 and was inducted into the Shawnee Football Hall of Fame. He started college on a football scholarship at Austin College in Sherman, TX. He then obtained two Bachelor’s Degrees from O.B.U., one in Business and the other in Chemistry. He also attended O.U. On Dec. 17, 1960, he married Carol Jane (Berry). Jim worked much of his life as a Budget Control Manager for Phillips Petroleum Co. in Bartlesville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his aunt, Margaret and grandparents, Ebbin and Mayme.
Survivors include two sons: Greg Lynn and wife Cindy of Springfield, VA, Randy Lynn and wife Tamara of Tulsa, OK, five grandchildren: Nick Lynn and wife Michelle of Alexandria, VA, Brianna Lynn of Silver spring, MD, Jennifer Lynn of OKC, Laura Lynn and husband J.C. Williams of OKC, and Jake Lynn and fiancé Karleigh Henger of Tulsa.
Services were held Feb. 17, 2024 at Central Church of Christ. Following the ceremony, Jim was laid to rest next to his wife at Tecumseh Cemetery.
