Gertrude B. Pickering passed away on Oct. 27, 2024. She was born on Mar. 1, 1945, in Shawnee, OK to Charlie B. and Lillie (Davis) Spybuck. Gertrude graduated from Bethel High School and continued her education at Oklahoma Baptist University. She worked at Worthington Pump while attending night school. She then worked many years as a paraprofessional at Barnard School teaching first and second grade.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mark Meek; sisters: Elaine Newton, and Sadie Low; and husband, Bob Pickering.
Gertrude is survived by her daughter, Tammy Knoles (Tony) of the home, daughter, Vikki Stryker (Danny) Cheatwood, (son) grandson, Doyle Stryker and wife Mariah, grandson, Derek Woody and wife Megan, (son) grandson, Laurel Stryker and wife Kendra Fixico, grandson, Deven Ewing, (son) grandson, Rodney Stryker, grandsons, Logan and Korban Woody, grandson, Bradley Stryker, granddaughter, Mvlea Stryker, sister, Twana Patty, brother, Garland Spybuck, sister, Margaret Shugrue, as well as many grandkids, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends, Ladine Steward and Cindy Belshe.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so on Nov. 1, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service. A graveside ceremony will be held on Nov. 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Fairview Cemetery.
