    James “Jim” Henry Hight of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away on Aug. 30, 2024. He was born at Ladd Air Force Base, Territory of Alaska on July 3, 1948 to Master Sergeant James Coleman and Betty Jewel (Wyatt) Hight. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1966. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in Jan. of 1967 and retired as a Master Gunnery Sergeant with 29 years of honorable service. Personal awards include the Combat Aircrew Insignia, Air Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon (Vietnam). He married Linda Ann (Mace) Hight on July 16, 1971. Jim earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Park University in Human Resources Management helping veterans make a smooth transition between their military service and civilian life. After retiring a second time, Jim finished his professional life guarding federal installations.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, and father.

    Jim leaves his children, Jim M. Hight and wife, Stephanie of Knoxville, TN and Sarah Lefebvre and husband, Ryan of Greenwood, MO; mother and three siblings in Oklahoma; Bill Hight, Darlene Griffith and Richard Hight; six grandchildren: Ellie Hight, Micah Lefebvre, Evan Lefebvre, Anna Hight, Lucas Lefebvre and Callie Lefebvre.

    James will be buried with military honors at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO in a private family ceremony. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service was held at Journey Church International in Lee’s Summit on September 3rd. Condolences may be left for the family at www.kaiserwiegers.com
