Marie K. Mellinger (Kathy) passed away, July 8, 2023.
She was born to the late Valentine and Emma Mickish, May 7, 1929. Marie graduated from St. Benedict High School.
She married the late Ernest Mellinger in 1952, always returning back to Shawnee in between military moves.
She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, Ernie, daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Glenn Cain, and grandson CJ White.
Marie is survived by five children Linda Ervin, of Athens, IL; Virginia (Bill) Eswine, Warrensburg, MO; Danny (Kim) Mellinger, Tecumseh, OK; Carl (Sue) Mellinger, Shawnee, OK; and Debra (Mike) Hale, Shawnee, OK; 12 grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Marie (Kathy) was a homemaker to her family. Her pies always made everyone happy. She had a special gift at the sewing machine, and sewed her whole life, later on, learning to make beautiful quilts. She was a member of the St. Benedict altar society, and Pottawatomie County Extension club. She focused her life on raising their six children.
The family will receive visitors at Walker’s Funeral Home, 201 E. 45th St., Shawnee, Ok from 4-6 PM, Sunday, July 16th, 2023.
The funeral will take place at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, 632 N. Kickapoo, Shawnee, Ok at 10 am, Monday, July 17th, 2023. Fr. Brashears officiating.
Burial will be immediately following at Calvary Cemetery, Paul Koehler Dr., Shawnee OK.
