Martin Andrew “Marty” Morris passed away on August 6, 2023.
Marty was born on October 1, 1961 to Joseph and Betty Jo (Smith) Morris in Enid, OK.
Marty graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1979.
He joined the US Army through the ROTC program and enlisted in 1979. He proudly served his country in the Army for seven years and was honorably discharged in 1986.
He married his high school sweetheart, Deborah Lynne (Stansell) on June 15, 1979, in Tecumseh, OK.
He worked for many years at the Shawnee News-Star as a paper carrier. He also worked in various places as a cook.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his grandson, Donte Wesley Jimenez; his granddaughter, Alexis Kamie Morris; his father, Joe Morris; his sister, Tycee Morris, and his grandparents, Nanny and Pops Morris.
He is survived by his mother; daughter, Tammra Smith; son, David Andrew Morris; daughter, Jennifer Stokes; grandsons, Jordan Andrew Morris and Aveon Tyree Stokes; granddaughters, Alyssa LaRose Dorsey and Jasmine LaRain Jimenez; sisters: Roxanne Douglas and Sonya Shackelford; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 10, 2023 and continue through service time. Family gathering will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to greet friends and family at the funeral home. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 11, 2023 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Travis Hurst officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
