Velma Marsh Washburn,passed away Oct. 21st, 2024. She was born in Tecumseh, OK on Jan. 24, 1931 to Frank and Elizabeth Marsh. She graduated from Harjo High School in 1948. She worked for several years for the Oklahoma City County Health Department, then later for the State of Oklahoma DHS, retiring after 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years Darrell, her parents, brothers Buddy and Edward, sister Betty Marsh Grogan and husband JB, sister-in-law Bernice Washburn Young, brother-in-law Walter Loren Washburn, Charlie Washburn, Bill Washburn, and by Glen York, her best friend and companion in the later years of her life.
Velma is survived by her daughters Laura George and husband Phil, Louise Washburn, four granddaughters Adrienne Proctor and husband Trey, Alissa Henry and husband Michael, Ashlie Evans and husband Kory, Catherine Taber and husband Ryan, one great-granddaughter and five great-grandsons; brother Jack Marsh and wife Melba, sister-in-law Janeen Washburn and Joyce Marsh, brother in law Orville Washburn, Eldon Washburn, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Oct. 24 at Cooper Funeral Home. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Oct. 25, 2024 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Steve Chisholm officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, with interment at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Tecumseh, OK.
