    Dear Editor,

I was glad to hear about Senator Lankford’s bill to extend child support eligibility from birth back to the conception. Such a law would make it easier for expectant moms to care for their babies.

In addition to this bill, we should also make a change in our state and federal tax codes to treat unborn children just the same as those already born in terms of filing status, child tax credits, and the earned income tax credit. This change would recognize the financial stress that can sometimes accompany a pregnancy, serve as an encouragement for the new mother, and honor the fact that a new life has been created.

    By His Grace,

    Lynn Gray, Shawnee
