    Dear Editor

There is a Moving and Shaking in America

Needful reminder: I am not a prophet or the son of a prophet; I am not a human Richter scale; however, I daily encounter ordinary people, here and elsewhere, that validate my belief that something long-since hoped for is about to happen. Truth is springing up everywhere like fresh green flowers after a drought-breaking rain. What is so off-the-chart is that this moving and shaking is happening against the backdrop of the undeniable and unavoidable reality of our galaxy-size problems and challenges. This letter will address this reality and capsule my very optimistic hope for tomorrow:

The cold hard facts: Contrary to spin doctors, our economy is in the quick sand of inflation, supply chain issues, emptying shelves, closing of small and large businesses, record personal and national debt, housing prices falling off the cliff, and a stock market that would make the Grinch start drinking. Energy costs are the elephant in the room. A faux relief at the pump has drained our oil reserves and that negatively impacts our national security. (Fact check: Gasoline prices were not $5/ gallon in January 2021 as our president recently hailed; in fact, gas was $2.38/gallon.)

Wokeism is strangling every element of our culture, educational system, civil discourse, and our law enforcement is teetering near collapse. Few will deny our nation stands on the ledge of a nuclear war; we have a two-tiered justice system; and yes Virginia, we have political prisoners here in the USA. Crime is beyond any fictional postapoplectic horror movie. This list goes on and on.

I’ve got good news for you. Distant echoes from freedom-seeking Boston, Philadelphia, Yorktown, the Delaware River, the plains of Princeton, Lexington, Concorde and Valley Forge are growing in intensity. Whispers of comfort and unity issue from the rail-splitting president with the extra tall top hat at Gettysburg. At Arlington National Cemetery, and other such sites, silent voices amongst the Crosses and Stars of David declare, “We served, so must you.”

Americans are listening and responding to those from other crazy and mixed up times. However, the sweetest and most life-changing voice of all gently and urgently beckons from the heart of the forgiving Lord Jesus. “Come unto me all ye that are burdened and heavy laden and I will give you rest.” “Let not your heart be troubled…” People here and abroad are responding to the Cross at Calvary.
