    Fires drew nearer as we packed our campervan and minivan taking a bare minimum of clothing, and everything we keep packed for camping—water, our routine meds, dog food, and sleeping bags. We rallied the neighbors to do the same and then waited. And waited. It was difficult having to leave the tiny home we built by our own hands approximately eight years ago.
