On Friday, Feb. 10, the Lady Wildcats made the short trip to McLoud. During the game, Bethel’s Parker Stevenson broke 1,600 for a career high, total points. She has added a few more points to this since that night, and the team will begin playoffs with district play tomorrow at Okmulgee.
The Lady Wildcats held the Lady Redskins to 9 points in the first half while putting 40 points on the board. Bethel did not let up in the second half, keeping the scoring in double digits for the remaining two quarters and continuing to hold McLoud in single digits. The Wildcats notched another win, 73-21.
Sophomore Josie Megehee and senior Parker Stevenson led the charge with 25 and 24 points, respectively. Lexi Tucker put six points in the books, followed by Bella Thomas with five, Layla Menhusen with four, Brooklyn Duff with three, Cadence Treece with two, and Lilly Megehee with one.
Monday, Feb. 13, the Lady Wildcats had a much closer game as they took on the Jones Lady Longhorns.
Bethel finished the first quarter with a two-point lead. In the second quarter, they outscored Jones by one point, finishing the first half with only a three-point lead, 22-19. Jones continued to battle but only closed the gap by one point by the end of the third quarter. The Lady Wildcats regained that one point in the fourth to finish the game with a win 44-41.
Stevenson led the team with 20 points. L. Megehee, Duff, J. Megehee added seven, six, and five points, respectively. Thomas and Hannah Davidson netted three points each.
The team finished its regular season schedule Tuesday, with a sweet 77-32 road win against Christian Heritage.
J. Megehee, Stevenson, and freshman Ava Gascon scored in double digits with 22, 21, and ten, respectively. Davidson dropped six points through the net. Thomas and Tucker each added five points to the board. Baylee Tapley added four points to the final score, followed by L. Megehee and Duff with two each.
Bethel will travel to Okmulgee Friday to begin District play. Tipoff is set for 6 pm and will be followed at 7:30 when the boys take the court, also against Okmulgee.
Regionals will begin next Thursday, Feb. 23, at Prague. District winners will play 6 and 7:30 pm. The Runner Up will also play at Prague with the girls’ game at 1:30, followed by the boys’ at 3 pm.
