The Tecumseh Lady Savages are District Champions and headed home to begin Regional Tournament play. After traveling three hours to Poteau and putting a convincing 58-27 win over the Lady Pirates, the T-Town ladies get to play on their home floor as they host a subregional tomorrow (Friday).
Tecumseh took off fast in Poteau as they used a smothering defense and explosive offense to run to a 21-5 lead after the first quarter led by Kenzli Warden. In the opening period, Warden had five steals and two assists, along with six points, as the Lady Savages built the lead.
The second period was closer as Poteau’s defense picked up, and the Lady Savages managed a 10-3 advantage and held a 31-8 halftime lead. The second half was more of the same, with Tecumseh taking a 44-15 lead into the fourth quarter.
About halfway through the fourth quarter, the Lady Savage bench was emptied as Tecumseh won the fourth quarter 14-12 on the way to an easy win to claim the District Title. Warden led the Lady Savages with 17-points and eight rebounds while collecting seven steals and four assists in the game.
Schantel Evans dominated the paint and tossed in 12-points in the win and had three rebounds, two steals, and two blocked shots. Jadyn Wilson had nine points, with seven coming in the big first period. Wilson also had three steals, two blocks, and an assist in the win.

The Lady Comets’ only loss this season was to the number five nationally ranked team in the Nike Tournament of Champions in Tulsa.
The 18th ranked Lady Savages pushed their season record 18-6 with the District Title win. Tecumseh has won 11 of their last 12 contests. Friday’s tipoff for the Lady Savages and Lady Comets is set for 6:30 pm.
