Bobby Ray Simmons, age 90, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Bobby was born on Oct. 13, 1935, in Elmore City, OK, to Lee Bob Simmons and Alice Simmons. He graduated from Elmore City High School in 1954, beginning a life marked by service, hard work, and devotion to family. In March of 1955, Bobby entered the United States Air Force, completing basic training at Dockland AFB. He served honorably for four years and was released from active duty on Mar. 23, 1959. During his military career, he served at Thule Air Force Base in Greenland, as well as Dyess Air Force Base and Tinker Air Force Base. After his active-duty service, Bobby continued his dedication to his country as a federal civil servant at Tinker Air Force Base, where he worked faithfully for 33 years. On Nov. 17, 1961, Bobby married Phyllis Williams. In Bethel, Bobby farmed and ranched, auctioned cattle, and cared deeply for the land he worked. He was a proud member of the American Angus Association and the North American Limousin Foundation.
He is survived by his wife; his daughter, Sheila Atwood and husband Jeff of Porum, OK; his son, Scott Simmons and wife Debbie of Shawnee, OK; his grandchildren, Jessica Clemons and Clint Simmons; and his great-grandchildren, Bexley Clemons and Case Clemons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Teddy Simmons and wife Marylou of Elmore City, OK; his sister, Geneva Pool and husband Floyd of Elmore City, OK; and his sister, Imogene Brooks and spouse Bob.
Services were held at Resthaven Memorial Park, Shawnee, OK on Feb. 11, 2026.
