Everett LeRoy Pound, 96, passed away Feb. 15, 2026, after a covid illness.

He was born on Dec. 22, 1929, in Greensburg, KS, to Everett William and Mary Pearl (Lambert) Pound.

He married Myrtle Laurita “Rita” Hall on June 18, 1951, in Shawnee, OK at Trinity Baptist Church. LeRoy graduated from Santana Rural High School in May 1948 and then from OBU with a Bachelor of Science degree in Math in May 1952. He graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity in May 1959. LeRoy was ordained for the ministry at Cottonwood Baptist Church, then a mathematician working with a wind tunnel design team for Convair Aeronautics. He later pastored at the First Baptist Church of Homer, LA. He also became an insurance agent and then worked for the IRS as a Revenue Officer where he eventually retired.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Pound; daughter, Barbara McReynolds; and his parents, Everett and Pearl Pound.

Those left to cherish his memory are; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Larry Guttridge of Oklahoma City, OK; four sons and one daughter-in-law: Dan Pound of Norman, OK, Dale and Debbie Pound of Shawnee, OK, Gary Pound of Shawnee, OK, and Larry Pound of Shawnee, OK; three grandchildren: Cheryl Chaney, Wesley Guttridge and Leslie Havlicek; five great-grandchildren: Jayden, Kasen, Dawson, June and Thomas; one sister, Joyce Strong; one brother, Kenneth Pound, and many extended family and friends.

Services were held Feb 22, 2026, at Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh, OK with Reverend Larry Guttridge officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee, OK.
