Otho Link Montgomery, age 91, lifelong Tecumseh resident passed away on Mar. 29, 2026. Otho was born on Oct. 6, 1934, in Earlsboro, OK to Norphalet Otho and Violet Olymphia (Houtz) Montgomery. He attended Harjo Public Schools.
He met the love of his life and future wife, Patsy Kieffer while she was working as a soda jerk at Morgan’s Pharmacy in Tecumseh. They were married on Feb. 2, 1957, in a little chapel in Schuler, OK by Pastor Sid Tiffin who was Pastor of the First Church of God in Tecumseh at the time.
Otho proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Texas, Missouri, Colorado and Alaska and honorably discharged after four years of service. He was a member of the Tecumseh American Legion/Hill-Huett Post 260.
Otho worked for OG&E for a short period of time before going to work for Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh in the early 1960’s, where he worked for about eight years, before going to work for Shawnee Milling Company where he retired after 30 years of service.
Otho enjoyed fishing, gardening, and playing games, especially canasta, dominoes and bingo. He was an avid OU fan and loved watching OU football, basketball and girls softball. His family was the focal point of his life, and he loved spending time with his grandkids and taking them on nature walks and exploring the pasture. He was also a pretty good cook and was known for his biscuits and gravy, fried potatoes, peanut brittle and his Texas fruit cake. He was a loving and caring father who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was loved by many and will be truly and deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by loving wife of 66 years, Patsy Montgomery on Mar. 14, 2023; his parents; two brothers: Cecil Montgomery and Don Montgomery; and five sisters: Evelyn Gamble, Roberta Cotton, Cora Mae Stralow, Helen Montgomery and Maxine Brooks.
Those left to cherish his memory are four daughters and three sons-in-law, Treva and Ron Henry of Bethel Acres, OK, Ronda and Larry Fryar of Harrah, OK, Jacquita and Mike Johnson of Prague, OK and Kristie Stastny of Shawnee, OK; eight grandchildren, Beth Henry, Criss and Bryan Rath, Jon Roller, Jessica Johnson and Ryan Gillin, McKenzie Johnson and fiancé Colton Hickey, Colt Stastny, Zack Stastny and Milena Stastny; seven great-grandchildren, Ivvy Tate, Daisey Roller, Wyatte Roller, Braxton Rath, Eli Hickey, Amanda and Austin Webb and Harley and T.J. Qualls; one great-great granddaughter, Sarena Buss; one brother, Monty Montgomery of Tecumseh, OK; one sister, Irma Montgomery of Tecumseh, OK; two sisters-in-law, Anona Kieffer of Shawnee, OK and Beverly Kieffer of Bethel Acres, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving extended family and friends.
The family would like to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation to Regency Skilled Nursing, the nurses and staff for all their loving care, compassion, kindness, respect and friendship they showed during his stay. The family would also like to send a special thank you to Good Shepherd Hospice for all their loving care.
Visitation will be from 9 am to 8 pm, April 2, 2026 and continue through service time with family gathering from 6 pm to 8 pm to greet friends and family. Service will be 10 am, April 3, 2026, at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Clint Dawkins, Sharon Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
