Edna May (Mitchell) Montgomery passed away June 7, 2026. Edna was born on Aug. 14, 1947, in Ardmore, OK., to Lewis R. “Doc” Mitchell and Martha Ann (Strebeck) Mitchell.
She met Bobby Montgomery, following his service in the United States Navy. They were married on July 9, 1966, in Dallas, TX.
She maintained several pen pal friendships throughout her life, including one that spanned an incredible 55 years. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the American Legion. She was a former member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Shawnee and was a current member of the First Baptist Church of Maud. She was an avid fan of the Oklahoma Sooners and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brother, Louis “Buddy” Mitchell; and her daughter-in-law, Amanda Renfro.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Danny Cramer of Maud, OK; her sons and daughters-in-law, James and Chasaty Renfro of Seminole, OK, and Carl “Dawayne” and Kinda Renfro of Paris, TX; sister-in-law Sharon Johnson, Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren: Daniel Cramer, Lyndsey Cramer, Scott Renfro, Chase Renfro, Mechelle Swanson, and Justin Renfro; nine great-grandchildren; her beloved dog, Beaux; and many extended family members and dear friends.
Visitation will be held from 9 am to 8 pm on June 11, 2026, and continue until service time at Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh, OK. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on June 12, 2026, at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.
