Glen Pence was born in Sterling, OK, on Sept. 30, 1933, to Thelma and Medaris “Doc” Pence. He grew up in Fletcher, OK, where he graduated from high school in 1951. As a senior, he felt called to the ministry and began preaching in abandoned schoolhouses. He went to Oklahoma Baptist University, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in ministry in 1955. He spent one year at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX, before he met and married Lynda Hobbs in Aug. of 1956. Both of them went back to the seminary, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Divinity degree in 1958.
Glen preached for 73 years before he retired at the age of 90.
Glen is survived by Lynda, his wife of 69 years; their son, Ron Pence and his wife Kathy; grandchildren, Austin Pence and Stewart Pence and his partner Shana; their daughter, Jeneane and her wife Laura; grandchildren, JR and Garrett; and brother-in-law, Jimmie Scott and children.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Virginia.
He will be missed by the many people he served in churches as well as those families he helped through their grief in hospice. His memorial service will be later this year when his family can attend.
