Donald “Don” Wayne Stapp, 79, of Shawnee, OK, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. Don was born on June 8, 1947, in Shawnee, OK, to James Samuel Stapp and Ruby Irene (Hogue) Stapp. He was raised in the Shawnee area and attended Bethel High School.
Don proudly served his country in the United States military during the Vietnam War. He returned home in March of 1969 with honors and soon began the next chapter of his life. On Nov. 7, 1969, he married the love of his life, Belinda Baldwin. Together they built a loving home and life in Bethel Acres, sharing more than 56 years of marriage.
A hardworking and dedicated man, Don began his career framing houses before becoming a concrete finisher upon returning from Vietnam. He devoted more than 50 years to his trade, earning the respect of coworkers, friends, and customers through his strong work ethic and willingness to lend a helping hand.
Don had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed quail, pheasant, and turkey hunting, but his greatest passion was fishing. He also treasured spending time with family and friends, especially at family reunions where he could visit, share stories, and enjoy the company of those he loved.
Known for his generous spirit, Don was highly involved with local FFA youth and was always willing to help others. Whether family, friends, or neighbors needed assistance, he was there without hesitation and never expected anything in return. His kindness, integrity, and servant’s heart will be remembered by all who knew him.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, James Samuel Stapp and Ruby Irene Hogue Stapp; brothers, Lester “Buck” Stapp and Johnnie Stapp; sister, Vonda Lee Oldham; half-sister, Bonnie Lee McGill; and half-brothers, Oscar Stapp and Vader Stapp.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Belinda Stapp; sister, Oleta (Sis) Mc-Gill; his two sons, Samuel Stapp and Kevin Stapp and wife, Kimberly Stapp; grandchildren, Kodi Dawn Franetovich and husband, Conner Franetovich; Ely Stapp and wife, Sammie Jo Stapp; and Griffin Stapp; great-grandchildren, Noah, Emma, Casen, and Karli and Luke; along with numerous extended family members and dear friends.
A memorial service celebrating Don’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Sharon Baptist Church, with Reverend Larry Townsend of Bethel Acres Assembly of God officiating, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home. The family invites everyone to join them for a luncheon and fellowship in the Church Family Life Center after the service.
Don’s legacy of hard work, devotion to family, service to others, and love for the outdoors will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
