Lifetime Shawnee resident William “Bill” L. Floyd, 78, died peacefully at his home Oct. 18, 2021.

Born on Independence Day, July 4, 1943, Bill was the beloved son of Bill and Carmen (Greco) Floyd. Bill loved his hometown of Shawnee and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1961. In 1971, he married Donna Kaye Weller with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage. Together they built a loving family, blessed with a houseful of boys.

Bill’s professional career would lead him to Tinker Air Force Base where he worked for 36 years as a civil servant, retiring in 2001 as a Program Manager. Bill was a classic car enthusiast, all around mechanic, enjoyed upholstering and a self-taught cabinet maker.

Bill is survived by his wife Donna, three sons, Randy Floyd, Paul Martin and wife Kim, Tony Floyd and wife Kathy; sister, Carolyn Rupp and husband Clint; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and other family members and friends.
