Jean Pointer, 99, of Shawnee, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2021, in Shawnee, OK.
Jean was born Oct. 23, 1922, in Hazel, OK, to Jack and Alma B. Crain.
She was raised in Binger, OK, and graduated from High School in Purcell.
Jean married John T. Pointer Sept. 3, 1939 in Denton, TX. Following their marriage they began their family in Maud, OK, moving back to Binger then to Shawnee in 1945 and have since lived here.
She worked as a grocery cashier for Safeway and Homeland Groceries for 35 years and retired in 1988.
Jean was a member of Central Church of Christ; baking was her joy and passion. She also enjoyed gardening and canning and watching the television show the “Waltons.”
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John on Jan. 4, 1961; four sisters, a brother, twin grandsons, and two sons-in-law, Phil Jackson and Bill Lowrey.
She is survived by two daughters, Dee Lowrey, of Shawnee, and Judith Jackson, of Shawnee; son and daughter-in-law, Phillip Jan and Kim Pointer of Valencia, CA; six grandchildren, Terri & Ford Mastin, Kirk & Bridget Lowrey, Todd & Cindi Lowrey, Mark Ragsdale, Brian & Katie Pack, and Phillip D. Pointer; seven greatgrandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many friends and extended family.
Service was Dec. 15, 2021, at Cooper Funeral home Chapel with Pastor Logan Edmonson, Central Church of Christ, Shawnee, OK, officiating. Burial followed at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
