Roy “Toonz” Dean Hinds, 41, of Lawton, OK, died Dec. 9, 2021, at his home.
He was born July 21, 1980 to James Irving Hinds, Jr. and Darletta Ann (McGlocklin) Hinds at Fort Bliss, TX.
Roy was raised on Army bases until 1995. After this, the family moved to Maud. He attended Maud Public Schools where he played basketball and football, lettering in football. Roy graduated in 1999. After high school, he moved to Lawton where he lived until his passing.
He worked in retail sales at several places in Lawton.
Roy loved to play darts and competed in dart tournaments. He loved to watch football and his favorite team was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and OU Sooners. Roy was well liked and earned the nickname “Toonz” by his friends, because he was so joyful.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents.
Survivors include his parents, James and Darletta Hinds of Maud, OK; sister, Christie Hinds, of North Carolina; nieces, Natasha Lee, Alexus Lee and Destiny Lee of North Carolina; great-nieces, Adanna Lee and Amaia Lee; and aunt, Dolores McGlocklin of Midwest City, OK; and numerous other aunts, uncles and other extended family and friends.
Graveside Services were held Dec. 16, 2021, at Forest Hill Cemetery with Glen Williams of Trinity Baptist Church in Maud, OK, officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
