Rosie Mae Brightwell, 92, of Shawnee, OK, died Feb. 16, 2022, in McLoud.
She was born Dec. 11, 1929, to William Henry and Mattie Lee (Pierce) Lairson in Macomb, OK.
Rosie was raised in the Shawnee/Tecumseh area and was a 1947 graduate of Tecumseh High School.
She married Don Brightwell on July 20, 1956 in Seminole, OK. He preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 2010.
Rosie worked as an electrician at Tinker Air Force Base until her retirement in 1986.
She was a member of East Main Church of Christ in Shawnee and Highland Church of Christ in Tecumseh. Rosie was a member of the VFW auxiliary in Shawnee for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, cryptic puzzles and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca Pickard; her parents, William and Mattie Lairson; sister, Cordelia Gilbert; and brothers, Bart and Earl Lairson.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Rita Jo and Tommy Rooker of Shawnee, OK; three granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Earlene Ellen Childers of Seminole, OK; and other extended family and friends.
Service was Feb. 21, 2022, at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Phil Lairson officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Shawnee, OK, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
