John Roland Richardson, 78, of Checotah, OK, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022, at his home.
He was born August 25, 1943, to John and Wilma (Caudle) Richardson in St. Louis, OK.
John was raised on the Old Richardson Home place 1 ½ miles West of St. Louis, OK, where he attended St. Louis Public Schools. He raised his family in Moore, OK, until retiring to Lake Eufaula in 1990, where he has lived since.
He married Wanda Clark in 1961 in St. Louis, OK, and they just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
John worked as a machinist at Tinker Air Force Base for 30 years until his retirement in 1990.
He was an avid fisherman (every day), avid gardener, avid arrowhead collector, and deer hunter. John also enjoyed pheasant hunting, raising and training bird dogs, and loved camping and going out on the pontoon boat.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Wilma Richardson; greatgranddaughter, Rhea Johnson; three sisters, Wanda Etchieson, Lena Rawls Bradley, and Ruth Lewis; and two brothers, Michael Richardson, Melvin “Buster” Richardson.
Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 60 years, Wanda Richardson of the home; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Sandra and Jorge Zarate, Shelly and Ken Chadwick, and Sharon and Doug Pollard; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three sisters, Leoma Himes, Shirley Marsellos and Laverne Whittern; one brother, Ronnie Richardson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
Services were held Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Sharon Baptist Church, with Reverend Clint Dawkins officiating. Burial followed at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
