Myrtle Laurita “Rita” Pound passed away August 31, 2022. She was born October 17, 1932 in Shawnee, OK to John and Ruby (Elms) Hall. Rita graduated with the class of 1951 from Shawnee High School.
She married Everett LeRoy Pound on June 18, 1951.
Rita was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker most of her life. She worked outside the home for 5 years at Tinker Air Force Base.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara McReynolds; and her parents, John and Ruby Hall. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 71 years, LeRoy Pound of the home; one daughter and one son-in-law, Linda and Larry Guttridge of Oklahoma City, OK; 4 sons and one daughter-in-law, Dan Pound of Norman, OK, Dale and Debbie Pound of Meeker, OK, Gary Pound of Shawnee, OK and Larry Pound of Shawnee, OK; 3 grandchildren, Cheryl Chaney, Wesley Guttridge and Leslie Havlicek; three greatgrandchildren, Dawson, Jayden and Kasen; one sister, Cleta Webb; one brother, Glen Hall; and many extended family and friends.
Services were held September 2, 2022 at Hopewell Baptist Church with Reverend Rick Parker, Hopewell Baptist Church officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
