Jimmie Brownell, Jr. passed away December 5, 2022. He was born on August 28, 1923, in Purcell, OK to Jimmie Brownell, Sr. and Hattie Mae (Northcutt) Brownell. He was a graduate of Arkansas City High School and then attended Cowley College in Arkansas City, KS. Lura “Catherine” Mitchell became his wife for 74 years until her passing.In World War II, Jimmie served in the Naval Reserve Air Corps.
Professionally, Jimmie found success as General Manager for Athlete Team Sales. Jimmie was also proud of his induction into the Shawnee High School Baseball and Football Hall of Fame as well as playing King & his Court in Fast Pitch Softball and serving as a non-commissioned scout for The Baltimore Orioles.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Catherine Brownell, sister, Betty Estep, and dear friend, Jerry Thompson. Survivors include his two daughters, Meg Brownell and Regina Foster and husband Jim, son, Jimmie Wes Brownell and wife Sally, grandchildren, Jeff Foster and wife Erin, John Brownell and wife Heather, Katie Beth Keck and husband Jason, great-grandchildren, Ryan Foster, Sydney Foster, Elin Foster, Kelsey Kinnamon, Braden Brownell, Cutter Walker, Jase Keck and Wilson Keck, and great-greatgrandchild, Amari Garcia.
Services were held December 10, 2022 at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service Chapel. Burial followed at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell, OK.
