Laura Jean Pennock passed away on Sept. 16, 2025. She was born on Oct. 7, 1957, in Pawnee, OK to William and Genevive (Meeks) Pennock and was a member of the Sac and Fox Nation.
Laura dedicated 25 years of her life to working at Firecracker Joes. Known as “Mean Jean,” she was outspoken and vivacious, yet her intentions were always grounded in kindness. Laura’s upbringings at Acme Schools laid the foundation for her spirited nature.
She is survived by her daughters: Stephanie Lasley, Jennifer Lasley, and Patricia Harjo; son, Richard Lasley; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Gene Pennock;and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents and sisters: Bunny Pennock, Billy Ruth Pennock, Barbara C. Pennock, and Patty A. Harjo, as well as her brothers Raymond Louis Pennock, Robert Jackson Pennock and William Sheridan Pennock.
Services were held Sept. 19, 2025, at First Indian Baptist Church.
