Bernis “Duane” Sturgill passed away on Mar. 1, 2026. He was born on Mar. 3, 1956, in Long Beach, CA, to Bernis and Mary Lou Sturgill.
Duane built a career in water and environmental well drilling, where his determination, ingenuity, and dedication helped him succeed in his field. On July 1, 1977, Duane married Sharon Kay Gober.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Donna Hope Williams.
He is survived by his wife of Stigler, OK; son, Craig Sturgill and wife Becky of Warrenton, VA; daughter, Darci Montgomery and husband Jason of Warrenton, VA; and his cherished grandchildren, Caleb Montgomery, Joshua Montgomery, Jacob Montgomery, Elizabeth Sturgill, and Violet Sturgill, all of Warrenton, VA; brothers, Austin Sturgill and wife Karen of Harrah, OK, and Jimmy Sturgill and wife Cindy of Bethel, OK, along with numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 8 pm, Mar. 12, 2026, at Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh, OK. Memorial Service will be held at 1 pm, Mar. 13, 2026, at Lake Eufaula Christian Church, Eufaula, OK with Pastor Jeremy Little officiating.
