Bobby “Bob” Arnold Brown passed away July 26, 2025, at the age of 83. Bobby was born to George and Macel Brown on April 17, 1942, on their farm just south of Geary, OK. He graduated from Geary High School in 1960, where he played football, wrestling, and baseball. He furthered his education at Southwestern State University, where he lettered in baseball and received his Bachelor’s and Master of Education degree.
Bob met and married his wife, Wanda, and they enjoyed over 50 years together before her passing in 2021.
He had a long, successful career in teaching and coaching, beginning in Geary, Oklahoma, where he taught and served as assistant and head coach in multiple sports, including head baseball coach. He later moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma, where he continued to teach and coach at both the junior high and high school levels. Along with being an assistant football coach, he was honored to start and coach the first wrestling program at Shawnee Junior High and to serve as the head baseball coach for many years at Shawnee High School. Bob was honored by the presentation made to him during the Bob Brown Appreciation night at Shawnee High School and by being inducted into the Shawnee Baseball Hall of Fame in 2009.
He had been a beloved teacher and coach who dedicated his life to shaping the minds and bodies of young people. Many of whom knew all the seventy-seven counties of Oklahoma, because of how he taught Oklahoma History, and claim to be better drivers, because of his driver’s education instruction. But what made a difference to him were the many who remained in contact with him long after graduation and those who acknowledged him wherever he went. He was proud that he made a difference in the lives of many.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Robbin (John) Kinard; daughter-in-law, Toni Inglis; grandchildren, Casse Bennett (with great-granddaughter, Paige), Ashlie (Dustin) Simpson (with great-grandsons, Kasen, Creed, and Kash), and Logan (Jasmin) Kinard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Wanda, of 54 years; mother, Macel Irene Brown; father, George Brown, brother, Donald Brown; sister, Sarah Reams; and son, Mark David Inglis.
