Calvin Wayne Rowe, Jr. passed away Aug 6, 2025. Calvin was born on Dec. 7, 1991 to Minnie Rochelle Masquas and Calvin Wayne Rowe, Sr. Calvin was raised with traditional Sac and Fox beliefs and customs although he was enrolled with the Iowa Tribe of OK. His beloved grandma called him Kisko as did many relatives. Others knew him as “Junebug,” the nickname given jokingly by his dad when he was less than a week old.
Calvin graduated from Shawnee High School in 2010. While at SHS, he participated in cross country track, was a member of the swim team, took drama classes and was the Shawnee Wolves mascot. Calvin was the first cast member to perform live on the stage of the new SHS auditorium as Joe Crowell in “Our Town.” He was cast in productions at OCCC and Shawnee Little Theatre.
He was employed at age 16, holding various customer service positions. He worked briefly as a security guard at The Black Hawk Casino.
He leaves behind his mother; sister Amber Dawn High-Bass; “sister” Amy Lynn Ellis; traditional mother Lina Ortega; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Preceding his passing were his grandparents Grace Thompson and Joe N. Masquas, Jr; his father Calvin Wayne Rowe, Sr.; grandmother Eugenia Sue Lee; grandfather Jimmy Wilburn Rowe, Sr.; great-grandmother Iva B. Pratt; and his beloved “sister” Ashley Kay Ellis.
A traditional Sac and Fox funeral ceremony was held Aug. 10, 2025 at the Wolf Clan Traditional House in Cushing, OK. Burial followed at the Hunter Family Cemetery in Cushing, OK.
