David James Larson passed away Oct. 6, 2025. David was born on July 30, 1947 in the Los Angeles, CA, area to Ivan Victor Larson and Jean (VanCamp) Larson. He graduated from Downey High School in Downey, CA. He later moved to Oklahoma and attended college at Oklahoma Baptist University, graduating in 1970. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. David spent many years working in the hospitality industry. From 2003 to 2006, he worked as a civilian contractor in Iraq. David worked as a church administrator at Wesley United Methodist Church in Shawnee for approximately ten years before retiring in 2023. David married Janice Adams on Oct. 4, 2008 in Shawnee.
He is preceded in death by both his parents; two brothers, Timothy Larson and Danny Larson; a step-mother, Mamie Larson; and by numerous cousins and extended family.
David is survived by his wife, Janice Larson of the home; two sons, Thomas Larson and wife Sheri of Oklahoma City, and James Larson of Shawnee; a daughter Jennifer Marsh and husband Josh of Ozark, MO; a sister, SaraRuth Shaub of Shawnee; three step-children, April Bennett and husband Aaron of Chandler, Danielle McAlister of Chandler, and Alyson Prewett and husband Jimmy of Chandler; two nieces, Christiana Bateman and husband Joey of Midwest City and Charity Pearce of Wisconsin; by numerous other nieces and nephews, 15 grandchildren and numerous other extended family.
Services were held on Oct. 12, 2025 at Wesley United Methodist Church with Dr. Jeff Johnson officiating and under the direction of McElyea & Owens Funeral Group of Shawnee.
