Janice Ann Duff Cummins passed away Jan. 20, 2026. She was born Oct. 31, 1947. Jan began her working career while still in high school in the DECA club. She worked parttime as a proofreader for the Shawnee News-Star before graduating from Shawnee High School in 1965. She was a secretary for Robert Jones Law Firm and a receptionist at Shawnee Milling Company before working in the office of Schlumberger Oilfield Company. She first retired from First American Title Company after working there from 19992015. She then worked at the Grand Casino as a housekeeper until fully retiring in 2018.
Jan loved to spend time with her family, whether it was going to a local farm to pick fresh flowers, taking the grand-babies to a pumpkin patch or their annual trip to Affair of the Heart. Halloween was her favorite holiday! Mostly because it was her birthday, but also because she loved to watch scary movies and to scare her girls when they weren’t paying attention. She also loved to cook for her family. She used humor and laughter to get her through the hard and scary times in life; definitely passing that on to her daughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Allie and William H. Duff; and three sisters: Alice “June” Baily, Betty Hanby and Patricia Kirkland.
She is survived by her two daughters: Allison Cummins and Lori Harper (Billy); Grandson Cameron Coddington; Granddaughter Brittany Gregg (Blake); great-grandson Ethan Gregg; four sisters and two brothers: Donna Geiger, Jeana Cooksey, James Montgomery, Vicki Lewis, Brenda Carter and Jerry “Bud” Duff; as well as countless nieces & nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be announced on her Facebook page at a later date.
