Jimmie “Buster” Marshall Roye Sr, 73, from Shawnee, OK, died Nov. 15, 2021. He was surrounded by his family.

Jimmie was born Aug. 8, 1948 in Lampasas, TX, to James and Arlene Cobel. No matter where Jimmie lived, he always considered Lampasas, TX, his hometown.

He moved to McLoud, OK in 1968 where he met, fell in love with and married Ellen Basinger. In 1969, he was drafted into the Army and served in Germany during the Vietnam War on the Chaparral Missile Program. After the Army, he moved to Houston, TX, where he joined his father working for Brown & Root construction as an iron worker welder. In 1979, he planted his roots and raised his family in McLoud, OK. He contract welded for Presidential Riggs on his own welding rig until he went to work at Tinker AFB in 1984. Jimmie worked at Tinker for 25 years until his retirement in 2009 as a Branch Chief where he was a 3rd level supervisor with oversight over many specialty trade skills.

Jimmie was married to Ellen for 35 years until she died after a long hard-fought battle with cancer. He married Beverly Coleman in 2006.

Jimmie is survived by his wife, Beverly Roye; sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy Jr. and Tracy Roye, Travis and Paige Roye and Tom and Juli Brownfield; and eight grandchildren; as well as sister, Peggy Gwinn, and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Linda Soap.

A funeral ceremony for Jimmie was held Nov. 19, 2021, at the Walker Funeral Chapel. Following the ceremony, Jimmie was laid to rest at McLoud Cemetery with military honors.
