Joanna Hazlewood, 99, passed away Aug. 7, 2025. She was born Oct. 24, 1925 in Wales, TN to the late SH and Ina Kimbrough.
She married John C Hazlewood in 1954 and had 3 daughters, Mary, Linda and Nancy. Joanna was a long-time member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Shawnee, Oklahoma.
She had numerous jobs including teaching sewing for Singer Sewing Company, several department stores creating window displays as well as Wilson Meat Factory, Cains Coffee and Western Electric. She also volunteered serving at the Shawnee voting poles and the Shawnee Fair. She won several ribbons at the fair for her knitting. She also was a member of the Pottawatomie Home Makers Extension and served many years at Falls Creek Youth Camp. Joanna was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Shirley, her husband John, daughter Linda and great granddaughter Rylie.
She is survived by two daughters Mary, Nancy and son-in-law Steve Wake as well as eight grandchildren: Tiffany Patterson, Todd Smoot, Sheila Haskel, Stacey Brummer, Suzanne Crose, Brad Wake, Aaron Wake and Kevin Wake, 15 great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren . She will be greatly missed.
Services were held Aug. 12 at Taproot Church, 22 E Dunloup St., Shawnee, Ok. with Steve Wake officiating. Interment followed at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee.
