Johnny Gehrome McCarley was born on July 29, 1935 to Henry and Carrie McCarley and passed away on May 13, 2026 at the age of 90.
Johnny was the youngest of nine children. He later built a big loving family of his own and was a proud father to eight children: John, Cleo Yvonne, Tammy, Alan, Carrie, Rexal, Johnetta and Lavonda Sue. His family continued to grow through the years with 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
On July 4, 1962 Johnny was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. As a fourth generation witness, he faithfully served Jehovah throughout his life and was overjoyed to witness members of the seventh generation of his family dedicate their lives to Jehovah as well. His faith was the foundation of who he was and guided the love and kindness he showed to others every day.
Johnny is survived by his loving wife, Dana LeAnn McCarley, with whom he shared 35 wonderful years . lled with love, laughter and devotion.
He will be remembered as a man with a deep love for Jehovah, his family, and his neighbors. Johnny never missed a chance to tell a good joke. He grew some of the biggest tomatoes, and loved challenging someone to a serious game of dominoes – a game he fully intended to win. Especially when he claimed to have a masters degree in “Domin-o-logy”! More than anything, he made sure his family knew they were loved. Whether it meant a phone call, a visit, or a trip just to “check in on the kids.” Johnny always showed up for the people he cared about.
