L. M. Potter, 90, of Tecumseh, OK, died after a short illness, March 21, 2022, in Tecumseh.
He was born May 23, 1931, in Fyffe, AL, to Lloyd Monroe and Nora (Maness) Potter.
L. M. was born and raised in Fyffe, AL, and attended school there.
He served his country in the United States Air Force and had tours of duty in Texas and California. He met Joy Dell Olsovsky in April of 1954 while hitchhiking from his base in Amarillo to Alabama. They were married Aug. 6, 1954 in Prague, OK.
After his time in the military, L.M. went to work at Tinker Air Force Base in production control and retired after 25 years of service. After retirement, he found his favorite job working at Pratt’s Grocery Store in Tecumseh and interacting with friends and patrons.
He was a devoted member of Sharon Baptist Church.
L.M. enjoyed gardening, coaching Little League sports, fishing, hunting, camping and sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Douglas Potter; sister, Joyce Potter; brother, Terry Potter; and son-in-law, Danny Sparks.
He is survived by his wife, Joy; two daughters, Jackie and Charles Brooks of Tecumseh and Kathy Sparks of Tecumseh; son, Michael and Mary Potter of Plano, TX; four grandchildren, Logan and Katie Brooks, Camden Sparks, Tara Potter and Kari Ritchie; four great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren, three sisters, Joan Patterson, Marlene Williams and Carolyn and Burlon Bohannon; and numerous other family and friends.
Memorial service was March 25, 2022. at Sharon Baptist Church with Reverends Clint Dawkins of Sharon Baptist Church and Phil Thompson of Liberty Baptist Church officiating. Burial followed at Forest Hill Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
