Margaret Elizabeth Stevens passed away Aug.
19, 2026. Margaret was born on Sept. 30, 1941, in the storied town of Pawnee, OK to Alfred Ellis and Minnie Gibson. Her proudest accomplishments were being named Sac & Fox’s Senior Woman of the Year in 2001–2002 and Mother of the Year in 2020. She was also an avid member of the Sac & Fox Nation Elders Advisory Committee.
Margaret became a devoted mother, guiding her beloved children Celena Alexander, Vincent Ellis, Steve Ellis, and Stewart Stevens, and adopted children Dorothy G., Connie R., Mary E., and Shawna O., with wisdom drawn from a lifetime of love and perseverance. Margaret’s familial circle extended thoughtfully to her 13 grandchildren: Greg, Sam, Chris, Jennifer, Waylon, Josh, Sonny, Felica, Rose, Kaulin, Vincent Jr., Erica, and Alex, as well as 24 great-grandchildren, seven greatgreat grandchildren.
Margaret now joins her dearly missed parents; her sister, Sarah; her beloved grandson Isaiah; and her five brothers, whose collective memory forms the rich fabric of her heritage.
Left to mourn and honor her memory are her devoted daughter, Celina Alexander, and her loving nieces and nephews.
Services were held on Aug. 22, 2026. Burial followed Aug. 23, 2026.
