Margaret Elaine Newsom, 92, passed away June 1, 2026. She was born March 16, 1934 to Carlos and Viola Haug, in Shallow Water, KS.
Margaret graduated from Shawnee High School in 1952. She married Billy Joe Newsom on May 3, 1953, at the First Christian Church in Shawnee.
She worked in various office positions including First Federal Savings & Loan, Federal National Bank and retired from the Pottawatomie County Court Clerkâs office.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Newsom; her parents, Carlos and Viola Haug; six sisters and one brother.
Margaret leaves behind her children: Cathy Kennedy, Connie Newsom, Rick Newsom, and Tina Sims and spouse Ronnie Sims; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Mona Haug; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2 pm, June 4, 2026 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Clint Dawkins, Sharon Baptist Church and Kelli Pitman officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
