Merrill “Mac” Dean McBride, Sr., 93, passed away on Aug. 19, 2026. He was born on July 20, 1933, to Carl and Margaret (McGuire) McBride in Colby, KS. Mac graduated from Maryville High School in 1952. He worked at the Shawnee Mill before becoming a sheet metal mechanic at Tinker Air Force Base, where he retired in 1988. He was extremely proud of his military service with the United States Air Force.
Mac is survived by his daughters: Marilyn Newton (husband, Daryl Newton) and Neesie Smith; daughter-in-law, Terrie McBride; grandchildren: Cindy Evans, Chris McBride, Tara Shoemaker (husband, Jeff Shoemaker), Megan Harris (husband, Matt Harris), Jacob Lackey (wife, Tiffany), Ashley Newton, Shelbye Corpus (husband, Tynan Corpus), and Conner Newton; great-grandchildren: Austin Evans, (baby) Ashley Shoemaker, Jordan Evans, Bryant Evans, Aaron Shoemaker (wife, Shelby Shoemaker), Katelynn Boyd, Maria Harris, Ricky Harris, Cailyn Wooten, Abbyegail Wooten, Case Lackey, Jaxson Wooten, Lynnlee Lackey, Blaklee Millsap, and Madison Corpus; four great-great-grandchildren; and several cousins, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margie Harris; twin brother, Darrell McBride; brothers, Bill, Roland, and Keith McBride; son, Merrill Dean McBride, Jr.; daughter, Marlene Annette Cearley; his first wife, Mary Ann (Neal); and his second wife, Bettye Louise (Poe).
A viewing will be held Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 9 am to 7 pm, with visitation from 5 pm to 7 pm. A funeral service will be held Aug. 28, 2026, at 10 am at Riley-Walker Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
