Minnie “Penny” Brown passed away on Aug. 4, 2026. She was born on Feb. 11, 1934, to Abe and Eva (Eck) Penner near Fairview OK.

Penny attended Dale School until she graduated from the 8th grade. She then attended and graduated the Fairview High School, working for her room and board in town.

She worked at being a nanny, house cleaner and retired as a secretary for OG&E. She married Lewis Henry Brown on Dec. 12, 1997 She wrote and published more than one book and was working on another book minutes before her last illness struck.

Penny and Henry lived in Shawnee until his death in January of 2022. They were married 24 years, one month and one day.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Abe and Eva Penner; six sisters: Rose, Malinda, Margaretha, Sue, Ida and Kathrine; and two brothers: Ruben and Earnest.

Left are two sisters: Elizabeth Goodrich of WA, and Esther Thomas of TX; one brother, Ervin of El Reno OK; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Services were held Aug. 10, 2026 at Prague Church of God Chapel with Douglas Wall, Ed Wilson and Eric Doolittle officiating. Graveside Committal followed at Bethel Cemetery, Bethel Acres, OK under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.
