Muriel Alice Wakolee, 74, of Shawnee, OK died Jan. 4, 2022.
Muriel was born to Evelyn (Brave) Haney and Rudolf Lefthand on March 4, 1947, in Oklahoma City, OK. She was raised by her other father, Norman Haney, Sr. She was the oldest of four children.
Muriel attended Strothers Schools, Shawnee High School, and Haskell Jr. College.
She married David Wakolee on Sept. 3, 1983 at Friends Church.
Muriel was a member of the Arapaho and Sioux Tribes, respectively. Muriel was a member of the Nagawee United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn Haney, Rudolf Lethand and Norman Haney, Sr.; brothers, Michael Haney and Norman Haney, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, David Wakolee; children, Tishomingo Waldon and wife Devona of Oklahoma City, Aloma Waldon of Shawnee, Chuffee Waldon Sr. and wife Keri of Shawnee, Hannah Wakolee and husband Eric Brassfield of Shawnee; sister, Janet Byington and husband Tim of McLoud; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving friends and extended family.
Wake Service was held Jan. 7, 2022, at Hitchitee United Methodist Church in Seminole, OK. Service was Jan. 8, 2022, at Hitchitee United Methodist Church with Timothy Byington and Stephen Floch officiating. Burial followed at Hitchitee Church Cemetery in Seminole, OK, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
