Ouida “Chubby” “Granny” Washburn died Dec. 3, 2021, surrounded by her family.
She was born Dec. 20, 1927, to Grover and Ouida Parsons in Tecumseh, OK.
She was quickly nicknamed Chubby by her Daddy and was known by this nickname by all her family and friends for the rest of her life. She grew up in Tecumseh and attended Tecumseh schools. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.
On Sept. 26, 1945, she married Walter Washburn in Shawnee, OK. They were married until Walter’s death in 1995. Together they owned and worked the Washburn dairy farm all their married life.
She loved working in her yard, growing beautiful irises and daylilies, was an avid rock hound and antique collector. She enjoyed going to the casinos with her special sisters-in-law Bernice and Janeen for many years.
To all her grandchildren she was Granny.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her parents; brother and sisters-in-law, Carroll, Georgie and Dorotha Jean Parsons; sisters and brothers-in-law, Erma Lee and Raymond Moore, Charlene and Dwight Roberson, Marlene and Bill Powell; sister, Maxine Sullivan; and sister-in-law, Corrina Parsons.
She is survived by her brother, Buck Parsons of Tecumseh; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Charles Gambrell; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Sharon Washburn; grandchildren, Tammy and Jeff Murray, Mark and Jennifer Gambrell, Mandy and Waylon Ash, and Stefanie Washburn; seven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Service will be 10:00 am, Dec. 9, 2021, at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Larry Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
