Reginald “Rick” Ashley passed away on Oct. 11, 2025. Rick was born on May 18, 1949 and dedicated a significant part of his life to serving his country and embracing the joys of family.
Rick began his career as an over-the-road trucker, continuing this path for 30 years following his honorable discharge from the United States Marines. As a proud member of the military, he served for four years, attaining the rank of Lance Corporal. His service included time as a Radioman during the Vietnam War, where he exhibited remarkable bravery, earning several accolades including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Combat Medal.
In December, he would have celebrated 43 years of marriage to his beloved wife, Laveta “Lolly” Ashley. Together, they nurtured a family that includes their children: Chandra Cox, Chelby Edmonds, Dariel Ashley, Enrique Ashley, Crystal Grant Lowe, Rick Ashley and Audrey Lee. He cherished the roles of grandfather and great-grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren, all whom he loved “with all his whole heart.”
Rick is preceded in death by his father, Leroy Ashley; mother, Rose Davis; and his siblings, Leon Gokey, Darrell Gokey, Claude B. Davis, Flora “Chicken” Davis and Gale Davis.
Services were held Oct. 15, 2025, at Wakolee Cemetery in Shawnee, OK.
