Rita Marie Powell passed away on Sept. 27, 2026. She was born on Sept. 8, 1950 to Doris Hunter and Herman Watts in Enid, OK. Rita was raised and loved by Harrison Hunter as his daughter.
She graduated from Mcloud High School, continuing her education at Oklahoma Baptist, followed by the School of Cosmetology. She resided in Shawnee and held a successful cosmetology and stylist career.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harrison and Doris Hunter; her brothers, Lloyd Watts, Richard Watts, Warren Hunter; her sisters, Deborah Hunter, Harriet Hunter, Karen Hunter; and grandson, Justice Stevens.
Rita is survived by her children, Lloyd Hunter and Doris “Sissy” Hood; sister, Annette Rice; brother, Henry Hunter; her grandchildren: Cheyenne Runsabove, Rylan Brady, Skush (Edward) Brady, Blaine Hood, Skylar Cross, Emily Hood; along with numerous, nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held at the Otoe-Missouria Tribal Cultural Center in Red Rock, OK. Tribal Rites were held on Sept. 28. Burial followed Sept. 30, 2026 at the Otoe-Missouria Tribal Cemetery.
