Vernon Charles Stokes, 78, of Tribbey, OK passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022 at his home. He was born December 11, 1943, the youngest of six children to Robert and Louise (Miser) Stokes in Norman, OK.
Vernon attended Norman Schools and graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged.
Vernon married Judith Ann Staron on May 15, 1972 in Wichita Falls, TX. She preceded him in death on December 17, 2000.
He retired from Safeway/Homeland as a produce manager.
Vernon was a loving husband to his wife Judith. He was a hard worker, loyal friend, great dancer, jokester and a very private person. He was an animal lover and was called the bird man of Tribbey.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Stokes; parents, Robert and Louise Stokes; two brothers, Melvin Stokes and Richard Stokes; and two sisters, Clara Langarin and Rita Seiter.
Survivors include his sister, Evelyn Clark of Earlsboro, OK; and numerous, nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
Services were July 11, 2022 at Council Creek Cemetery in Tribbey, OK under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
