On Aug. 13, an announcement was shared on Facebook regarding a homeless facility near McLoud. According to the post made by Bob Palmer, Wayne and Donna Heins had leased the Steeple Church located just off 29th Street between McLoud and Harrah.
The Shawnee Board of Education met for a special meeting on Aug. 28 to discuss the OSDE investigation into Superintendent Dr. Aaron Espolt’s certification and how to proceed. Espolt is on paid administrative leave, and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Teresa Wilkerson is the interim superintendent. Countywide & Sun/Natasha Dunagan

The votes are in, and Eric Stephens won the mayoral race with 2,323 votes (61.31 percent) and 1,466 votes (38.69 percent) for incumbent Ed Bolt.Stephens said, “ It is the honor of my life to be elected Shawnee’s next mayor. So many citizens of this great community embraced my campaign early on.
