Nine State FFA Degree Recipients from Tecumseh, NRC

Last month, the Countywide & Sun introduced five out of the 17 State FFA Degree recipients from Pottawatomie County for 2025. They were Sydne Konkler, Kylie Nunneley, Paityn Seiger, Lilybeth Springer from Bethel, and Gracie Little from McLoud.

Oklahoma Youth Top Agriculture Achievement Contest

OKLAHOMA CITY—Twenty agricultural youth from across Oklahoma have earned top placings in the 2025 American Farmers & Ranchers (AFR) Agricultural Achievement Contest. The contest was conducted in conjunction with the Oklahoma Youth Expo (OYE) in Oklahoma City March 11-21.

Pottawatomie County 4-H Clubs Secretary Kimberly Holland of Tecumseh recently returned from the 4-H Senior Leadership Retreat in New Mexico.But it turned out to be a completely different trip from what was planned.“This year’s trip had 34 Oklahoma delegates and four adult chaperones.

Agriculture students make an impact with new FUB contest

First United Bank (FUB) in Shawnee set a new challenge for the agriculture students in Pottawatomie County.Between Nov. 4 and Dec. 4, 2024, they were to “compete to see who can make the biggest impact through three key activities,” according to a letter to agriculture teachers.

It all started in 2020 when the Hobbs family made Valentine’s Day cards for the residents of Seminole Care and Rehab.A relative of theirs, Courtney Branch, works there, and that experience inspired the current Pottawatomie County 4-H Reporter Grace Hobbs to continue the tradition.

Bethel Sisters Win Santa Gertrudis Junior Class At State Fair

For sisters Grace and Callie Loman of Bethel, this year has been one of firsts.Most recently, they showed their seven-month-old Santa Gertrudis heifers - Harley Quin and Dakota - at the Pottawatomie County Free Fair and the Oklahoma State Fair for the first time.
