Glenn Peck, of Shawnee, has led an eventful, adventurous life. He has a seemingly endless supply of tales, which he writes about in his Countywide & Sun column “Stories I Should Have Told Sooner.” He spent 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Shawnee Swim Teams Take Top Scores At Nov. 17 Meet

The Shawnee High School Boys and Girls Swim Teams hosted Bixby, Plainview, Lone Grove, Ada and Byng swimmers at the Shawnee YMCA on Nov. 17. The 200-Yard Medley Relay, in both the boys and girls, was won by Shawnee.

Pride of the Pack Perform in Honor of Breast Cancer Survivors

The color guard and marching band members in "The Pride of the Pack" performed "Astral Odyssey" during half time of the Shawnee home game on Nov. 3. The Shawnee band recently placed 12th in the Owasso State Marching Contest, according to the Shawnee Bands Facebook page.

The event has been put on by the wrestling department for four years, and Coach Andrew McCune said they just do it for the kids in the community. This year, they joined forces with First United Bank to add their annual "tailgate party" and grilled hamburgers.

Shawnee Wrestlers Hold Carnival for Fourth Year

The Shawnee High School wrestlers, coaches and alumni held a carnival in front of the Stucker Wrestling Complex for the fourth year on Oct. 13. They had a dunk tank, bake sale, carnival games, National Guard obstacle course, and an inflatable.
