After the June 8 regular meeting was canceled, the Shawnee Public Schools Board of Education met to wrap up the 2026 fiscal year and prepare for fiscal year 2027 on June 29.

Trent Montgomery took a seat to fill Ward 2 at his first McLoud City Council meeting on June 25. Phil Solinger, Ward 1 was there just prior to the meeting, but left just before it began.
Relay for Life of Pottawatomie County Co-Chair Jana Grubbs hands out carnations to cancer survivors after they tell about their journey during the event, held at the Heart of Oklahoma Expo Center Fred Humphries Arena on May 29. Cancer survivor Nikki Robinson was the speaker that night. There were 54 registered survivors at RFL this year, and 11 area teams raised $28,299 for the American Cancer Society, as of June 1. Avedis Foundation awarded a $74,619.39 grant to Project: SAFE to support the organization’s Legacy transition plan and ensure continued stability and services during an upcoming leadership change.

Robinson was the commander of the 552nd Air Control Wing, based at Tinker AFB, during the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, and he recounted the day-by-day progression of events during that time, using a slide show. It has been almost 25 years since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.But retired Brigadier General Ben Robinson, who lives in his wife Linda’s hometown of Shawnee, can remember all the details.“I remember about three major things.

Carter's Beef donated 100 pounds of hamburger for the fundraiser, held at the Brooksville Community Center on June 20. J. Deatherage said the Brooksville community bought a quarter side of beef worth $1,134 for a drawing to raise money for the Brooksville Cemetery pavilion and restroom.
