OBU Theatre Presents Louisa May Alcott’s “Little Women”

The Oklahoma Baptist University Theatre program will present “Little Women,” adapted by Marisha Chamberlain from Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel. Performances will take place in Sarkeys Black Box Theatre on November 6, 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m.; November 9 at 2:30 p.m.

The Pottawatomie and Lincoln County Coordinated Community Response Team (CCRT) held their annual Domestic Violence Awareness & Awards Ceremony on Oct. 24 at the Pottawatomie County Courthouse.

County Commissioner has some Halloween fun

A bit of excitement was had by the County Commission to begin the Oct. 28 meeting. Upon clerk and commissioner entry, they noticed a man, in an orange jumpsuit and head covering, seated between the correctional officers at the back of the room.

Shawnee American Legion Offers Monthly Bingo to Nursing Home Residents

American Legion Gill-Mattox Post 16 in Shawnee has opened their doors to local nursing home residents to participate in bingo once a month.
Bobby Jackson, who was originally from Brooksville and now lives in Midwest City, serves himself during the Brooksville 122nd Anniversary Celebration, held at the Brooksville Community Center on Oct. 18. Brooksville is one of the remaining 13 all-black towns in Oklahoma, out of an original 50-plus, according to the Oklahoma Historical Society website. It was originally named Sewell, but was renamed in 1912 after A.R. Brooks, a cotton buyer and farmer. Full cutline below. Natasha Dunagan, Countywide & Sun

Project SAFE Marks 40 years, raises $186,000

Project SAFE celebrated its 40th Anniversary with a full house at the annual Honey Do Auction.The event, held Oct. 9, 2025, at The Grand Casino and Resort, raised approximately $23,000 more than last year’s total, bringing in just over $186,000 this year compared to the $163,000 raised last year.
