Joan (Smith) Reeves, 93, was born Oct. 14, 1932, in Shawnee, OK., to Wayne and Lillian (Moore) Smith. She passed from this life into eternal life with her Heavenly Father on May 1, 2026, in Shawnee.
Joan graduated from Tecumseh Public Schools in 1950. It was there she met the love of her life, James Reeves, and the two were mostly inseparable from their senior trip forward. James and Joan were married on May 30, 1954, at Central Church of Christ in Shawnee.
After high school, Joan worked in finance at Morris Plan Bank before deciding to devote her time to being a homemaker and raising her two children. After her children were grown, Joan worked as a teacher’s aide and secretary for Shawnee Public Schools for several years.
Following her retirement in 1996, Joan turned her attention to supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their band, academic, and sporting events.
Joan had a longtime goal of seeing the ocean and riding in a helicopter, and at the age of 88, she accomplished both in Destin, FL.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Wayne Fackler, and his wife, Marge; her brother, Darrell Smith; her infant brother, Jerry Smith; and her son-in-law, Philip Mosier.
Survivors include her son, Larry Reeves of Shawnee; her daughter, Luanne Mosier of Shawnee; her brothers, Dean Smith and his wife, Gayle, of Edmond, and Ron Smith and his wife, Sheila, of Oklahoma City; her grandchildren, Christina Collins and her husband, Brad, of Shawnee, and Amanda Brackeen of Shawnee; her great-grandchildren, Kayana Brackeen and her partner, Jonathan Green, Emma Collins, Lilian Brackeen, Andrew Collins, and Molly Brackeen; her greatgreat grandchild, Theodore Green, along with another great-great grandson due in June; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family, and friends.
Visitation will begin May 9, at 11 am, followed by the funeral service at 2 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home, 44909 Hwy 3, in Shawnee, OK, 74801. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Central Church of Christ in Shawnee.
